Gandhi My Father - Hindi Movie Review

Gandhi My Father is a saga told by an unfortunate son about the great father of the nation. This story is about Harilal Gandhi, the much known Mahatma Gandhi’s son.

This movie is a paradox to the life of Mahatma Gandhi who happened to be successful in bringing the nation’s independence but was at the same time an awfully unsuccessful father. This movie breaks away from the genres we find in the other films. Sheer Reality!

There are some breath taking performances by Akshaye Khanna and Shefali Chaya who depict some really heart wrenching moment throughout the film. Darshan Jariwala is close to being over perfect in his role as the Mahatma. Bhumika Chawla complements the circumstances with her matured expressions.

The story starts off with a beggar-like person awaiting death in the hospital. It seems that Mahatma Gandhi was always busy with the freedom movement forgetting to be a father to his own son. There were situations that kick off a sympathy for Harilal Gandhi. There were times when he was supposed to study but was sacrificed for the selfish needs of his father.

Hats off to the film makers for making a movie that touches upon a subject that deals with the personal life of the father of the nation. Anil Kapoor production has really crafted a movie that stands out in itself.

Amongst all the movies existing today, this one is surely a worth of your moolah.
